I cannot change my firewall setting or get onto my control panel. When I click on "Change Firewall settings" and "Control Panel" this small window pops up that says "This operation has been cancelled due to the effects on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." What should I do and what does this mean. My computer has no protection. I'm afraid of donwloading any free protection from the internet because I could get viruses. What are some protection that you've downloading that has no viruses and really help. Thank you.

I'm assuming you're the administator. Your computer has advanced spyware. If you're running Windows, you need to reformat the computer. Save all files you created (music, files, pics, etc) on a jumpdrive portable disk. Turn off computer, turn back on while pressing F10. Go to advanced options, Next, Yes, and Yes. That will get it back to the original settings. No spyware, no viruses.

It means that your user profile does not have administrator rights, which you need to access certain features, like the firewall. Try logging on to your computer with the Administrator profile (you have to start your computer in safe mode, by holding F8 while your computer boots). You can either use the Administrator profile to change firewall settings, or use it to give your profile administrator rights and change the firewall settings with your own profile.
