I think my computer is in big trouble with viruses?

I just asked a question about mcafee security center not working and finding no threats, in one of the answers, someone suggested that I put my computer in safe mode and then scan Mcafee. I put it in safe mode, clicked on Mcafee and as soon as it opened up in the window it said all this stuff like "Your computers real time protection is disabled", "Your computers spyware scanning is disabled", "Email and IM protection is off", and all this other stuff even though when in normal mode, Mcafee says that everything is fine. And when I clicked fix, it said it cant fix because of an error or something. What has happened? Do I have viruses or spyware or malware or trojans? Please help

use avast antivirus instead it's free and in some cases better than mcafee antivirus

Sorry I can't answer your question because I'm a computer dummy. I just wanted to say I hope you find a solution quickly. I had mcafee last year(paid subscription) and lost a very good computer to viruses due to it not finding anything. Best of luck. I hope you get some help soon.
