Is there any free, (no monthly charge ) virus protection that i can put on this windows xp presario

i have windows firewall, but i see that it does not give virus protection. whatever it would be, ( if any exists) i'd need it explained in an understanding matter for a person new at computers. thank-you

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.

you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.

firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.

as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try:

AVG free anti-virus. IT DOES UPDATE AFTER 30 days and will always update. Im a Auth reseller for grisoft so i know their software inside and out. The Anti-Malware automatically updates and then after 30 day you have to do it manually. The free anti-virus will ALWAYS update it self. It only does it once a day on the free version and you can schedule it for every hour on the paid version. They have one of the bigger databases of know threats. You cant go wrong with AVG

Among all freebies, I suggest Avast. IMO, it's better than NOD32 and AVG. Antivir is good as well. For free firewall, you can use Zonealarm.

Its awesome, i use it. It downloads new virus listings about 3 times per day so you are always up against new viruses.

Try AVG. I use it and its free.
www.grisoft.com. You can download and use for free, but after 30 days it won't update. Will still give you protection though.
