My norton subscription period expired 1 month back. Will it protect my computer after expiry?

Now that my norton has expired, will it auto-protect my computer? Or at least can i scan my computer with the expired norton and will it be effective? Can i rely on the free AVG for full protection?

No, it wont. Your computer is more prone to recent threats. And unless you add new definition files, it wont protect your computer. You can still scan though. AVG free is the best for home use. If you have XP Service Pack 2, then the windows firewall is sufficient . Also try installing antispyware like Spybot- search and destroy. It is free and very good. Try to look at windows defender too.

So the process is:

First download and save AVG Free

then disconnect internet.

then uninstall norton

then install AVG

then put the windows firewall on

then connect to internet and download spybot and defender.

Thats the best i can suggest.

bye

AVG is much better than norton if your norton expired then there is no use having it but even if AVG expires it can still block stuff without scanning that's why I have it but try to get adware its better then both.
Norton just doesn't get any updates anymore, u can use it, but it's geting old after a while. U can use AVG by now, but I reccommend Avast! (Pro), I have one, and It's like the best available (I have tryed them all).
There are several very good freeware antivirus programs* Make sure you uninstall Norton prior to using any other antivirus programs. If not you will have major conflicts with your computer.
s u can rely on AVG, but don't forget to upate daily for effective working
