I need help getting rid of alleged viruses off my computer.?

I have AVG and Spyblaster, but for some reason my comp keeps telling my its "infected" it has this vrus and that virus and I need to download some virus protection software.. i.e. SpyShredder or Spy Defender. Can n e 1 tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to get rid of such things w/o me actually going to some computer expert to charge me 200-300 bucks to get something off I can get off for free!!

Sounds like a form of adware. its a small program desinged to run in background. Then every few mins Popup a message from some,(example WinAV) virus company to remove a infection on your computer. I suggest writing down whatever company ad name that it shows then do a web search to remove that company name. (example Remove WinAV).
