Are people in power today the reason why we need to encourage students to reach full potential?

We have various politicians who have been exposed on corruption/bribery/sex scandals

Companies being lean on health risks (Architect of the Captial and asbestos suit)

Lack of protection of computer hard drive with sensitive information from the Transportation Security Administration which went "missing"

Al Qaeda has been rebuilding since 2001 and we just found out about it now.

We just found out that Al Qaeda has been rebuilding? That is common sense. Just because a report just came out about it doesn't mean we didn't know about it. Muslim extremism is becoming more and more popular. It isn't because of our leaders, however.

Unfortunately, the lack of morals by our leaders isn't because of higher education. It is because the american public has been too accepting of it in our politicians.

Education is important, but moral education is of equal importance.

Well, the hippie generation of the 1960s is now running the country. Isn't it amazing what the Woodstockers have done for us.
I think definitely that the people in power today are the reason we need to encourage students to reach their full potential. Not in the sense of aspiring to the greatness of those people in power today, but to hopefully surpass and be better leaders than today's and in the hopes that the future continues to turn corners to better positions for the world and for all people.

Haha, I just read the part about the TSA information leak... I worked for the TSA when it was first developing and I received a letter a few months ago warning of the TSA information leak and how they were offering something like a year's worth of credit checking and assistance to ensure that information was safe now because of some information from that time that has been "misplaced".
they are the reason we should end preferential treatment not only for women and minorities, but the rich as well. No more buying your way through school. You have to earn it like the rest of us.
Do you suggest we encourage children to be mediocre?
