What is write protection and how can you remove it?

i try moving music from my computer to my memory chip so i can listen to music on my phone but every time i drag it into my phone folder [music] it says this disk (but it's a song from itunes) is write-protected and i have to use a different disk or remove the write-protection

we need a bit more information. What operating system do you have? What type of phone %26 does it have drivers? It sounds like your phone folder is locked, not sure if it is actually the phone or if you have a separate folder.

If you have a Mac it's easy. 'get info' for folder or phone %26 click the lock icon. If you are using windoze you may have to wrestle with the drivers, or the formatting %26 other silly hoops to stumble through.
