My computer is slow when I loging in to the user-account?

It take a lot of time even to start the internet explorer sometimes. And almost some other applications too



My Spec



Win XP MediaCenter SP2



P4 3.06GHz



512MB-RAM



256VGA



150GB HDD



it has AVG Virus Protection installed

there are a lot of things u can do to speed it up.



1) get more ram (additional 512mb)



2) do some maitenance (my computer, right click c: drive, properties) first tab use disk clean up, second tab use error check and defrag.



3) Get Tune Up Utilities (30day trial, no viruses, spyware, etc) and use the various things it has like the registry cleaner)



4) Delete all internet content like cookies, history, etc (start button, right click IE, internet properties) delete all web browsing content.



5) switch to Firefox. It is faster, more secure and more reliable than IE.



6) Run ur anti virus (full scan) and update it.



7) get all windows updates.



8) get a good free anti spyware like Spybot Search and Destrioy, or AVG also has a free anti spyware.



9) disable start up items that u dont need (run command, type ''msconfig'' w/o '''', last tab)
